Based on the number of members in good standing, Local 579 is entitled to four Officers (President, Vice-President, Recording Secretary, and Financial Secretary-Treasurer) and seven Executive Board Members. In order to allow for an equitable representation for the membership as a whole, one elected Executive Board Member is being elected from each Base and the remaining Executive Board Member will be elected at large.

In looking at the TWU Constitution, am I correct in my calculations that we would need 21 delegates to attend? If so, do the candidates for delegate win by acclamation?

The number of delegates for each Local at the Convention is determined by the number of Members in good standing approximately 6 months before the Convention. Any duly elected delegates will fill those positions in order of the ex officio delegates and then by the number of votes received during the election. If there are not enough delegates elected in the general election, it may be necessary to have a delegate election prior to the Convention.
