Dear Members of TWU Local 579,
Our TWU Local 579 Members and TWU International have taken the position that the hostile takeover of Spirit by JetBlue is not in the best interest of our Members, validated by our Feb 2023 survey results.
We are happy to let you know that, after an unnecessarily long and frustrating wait, the Company has finally informed our Union that they are ready to begin the full implementation of the preferential bidding rules for the Next Day Reserve Assignment (NDRA) process, as described in Article 12.B.2.e-g of our CBA. The Company has stated that you should see this component activated on July 17th.
Your TWU Local 579 Grievance Committee has been diligently processing the numerous contract violations that have been submitted as a result of the ongoing IROP.
One theme we continue to see is extended wait times for a hotel. We want to highlight pertinent CBA language regarding these extensive wait times: 26.A.11 - 26.A.13.
We thank you for communicating with us regarding the Reduced Credit Line implementation issues. We have found several concerns that are being addressed and would like to provide further clarifications and updates.
Issue #1: The Company initially denoted RCL status as Part-Time as a benefit status.
